June 21 Updates

1. Help Needed at Community Center tomorrow, Saturday, 6/22/13 - 10am – We are preparing for the flooring update that is happening next week at the Community Center. In order to keep our costs down, there is some prep work that needs done by volunteers. If you have time to help us tomorrow at 10am, or would like to help another time, please reply to this email. To be done: remove cove base in bathrooms, kitchen and hallway, remove baseboards in main room, remove the divider in the “storage” bathroom, move a filing cabinet (need a dolly), and take apart the click-together dance floor.  We will also need help after the flooring update to put the baseboards and cove base back on. Please email if you can help. Thanks!

2. Roadside Cleanup update – It turns out the County hasn’t yet picked up the trash that we collected in our May roadside cleanup. They have been alerted and replied that they will pick up the bags soon. Silver lining here is that we have a chance to add to the pile while it is there! The roads have a good amount of trash again, so if you have time to pick up more trash this weekend feel free to put bags at the Community Center. Thanks!

The Community Club will host burgers and hot dogs and provide plates, etc. Last year we had 50 neighbors join in the fun. June 10 Updates

1. Meeting Minutes from last community meeting – Please find attached the meeting from the last meeting where we voted on a flooring update for the Community Center. We are very grateful for the work of Tammie Cook and Suzy Gillett for researching flooring options, and for Heather Smith’s guidance as Treasurer as we made this decision. This is an upgrade that we believe will have a good return on investment as our rentals have really picked up and the improved flooring ought to just improve our rental business further. Look for new flooring pics posted in a coming newsletter! Click here for the May 28 Meeting Minutes.

2. Bear in birdseed container - We had a visit by a "bear" Monday sometime overnight to Tuesday morning.  Completely destroyed the large feeder we have for the larger birds.  Bit the polycarbonate tube in half and bent the wood and metal platform it is attached to in half.  We now have moved our seed back into the garage which is a real inconvenience.  This was significantly more damage than what we had the previous bear incident some time ago.   Note:  we did not see this bear. Submitted by Pat Burgess.

3. Meals needed to be delivered to recovering neighbor – Please consider making/purchasing and delivering a meal to our past Lake Desire Community Center President, Vi Anderson. Vi is recovering from a recent surgery and could really use some help with a few meals for her family as she recovers. If you can help, please reply to this email and I will send you Vi’s address for delivery. Thank you!
